A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ; his lifestyle, his teachings and works.

Moreover, he must have the Spirit of Jesus in his body as his spirit is in the body of Jesus.

He must be born of the Spirit of God, having the love of God and able to keep his commandment.

A Christian is he that is led by the Spirit of God, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and being a partaker of the hope of his second coming in rapture without sin.

Message: Considering the question who is a Christian, let us read the book of Acts 11:26;

“And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch”
The followers of Jesus would always gather together to fellowship; study and learn the ways of Jesus Christ.

People saw their behaviour the way they spoke, live Holy life; prayed; preached the gospel, their zeal about the kingdom of God and their boldness in defence of their faith; and they called them “Christians”.

You are a Christian if you are a follower of Jesus and his ways of life. And there is no way you can behave like Jesus without having the spirit of Jesus in your heart.

That is why Apostle Paul said in Romans 8:9; “If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his”.

The Spirit of Jesus in a Christian will help him to know what sin is all about. The Spirit convicts you of sin, persuade you to ask for forgiveness, confess your sins and receive his peace in your heart to show that you are forgiven.

If you are not conscious of sin and the Spirit in you does not convict you of sin and so you sin anyhow, I wonder whether you are a Christian. For the Bible said in 1 John 3:9.

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin for his seed remaineth in him and cannot sin because he is born of God”.

Sin is a standard measure to know who is a Christian and who is not (1 John 3:10). Because a Christian does not sin.

What does this mean? This means that the Spirit of a Christian being born of God and one with the spirit of Jesus cannot sin as long as he remains in the faith of Jesus Christ.

Though the soul and flesh can make mistake in sin, but as soon as the Spirit of Jesus in him reminds him of the sin, he cries out to God, repents and confesses it; it will be forgiven him. (1 John 1:7-10):

“But if we walk in the light as he is in the light. We have fellowship one with another. And the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

This is a Christian, he who cannot sin willingly but when it happens by mistake; he repents and confesses it to God. And the blood of Jesus will spiritually wipe it out of his soul; having peace he rejoices in the Lord his God.

Who is a Christian? Are you a Christian? Then you must be led by the Spirit of God in you. As it is written (Rom 8:14).
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God; they are the sons of God”.

That is a Christian. Does the Spirit of God in you speak to you? Do you hear his voice when he speaks; suggests; witnesses to you in what to do; in your decision. Do you follow the way he speaks or wants you to follow? Do you obey his voice when he speaks? Do you read the Holy Bible? Do you understand it when his spirit is teaching you the doctrines of God from the Bible? That is a Christian.

Because you depend on him in your heart, you will see yourself; not only you but others, friends and relations will see you bearing spiritual fruits, as it is written in Gal 5:22-23.
“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance against such there is no law.

The virtue of a Christian is “Character”. Your Character shows your spiritual fruit which controls your behaviour; which if it is lacking throws doubt to your Christianity.

God bless you
